The Kansas City Royals lost their third straight game as they lost to the Arizona Diamondbacks 6-4 in their first interleague game of the season. The Royals had a 3-1 lead but in the top of the sixth inning the Diamondbacks offense woke up and scored three runs to go up 4-3.
Chris Young gave the Diamondbacks the lead when he doubled to deep left field and knocked in Justin Upton to put them up 4-3. The Royals came back to tie the game in the bottom of the seventh inning when Irving Falu scored on an Alex Gordon single.
However in the top of the eighth Miguel Montero drove in what would be the game winning runs on a double to centerfield which put the Diamondbacks up for good at 6-4.
The Royals had two chances to get back in the game but relievers Craig Breslow and J.J. Putz allowed silenced the Royals bats and did not give up any hits in the final two innings to defeat the Royals.
