Out with bronchial inflammation for the last few games, New York Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira says he's definitely not back to normal, but he is ready to get back on the field and work through his illness rather than sit out any more games. Given the state of the Kansas City Royals starting pitching staff, it might be a good time to try to get hot at the bat.
"I'm not 100% obviously but I think it definitely did some good and I'm looking forward to playing (Monday night)," said Teixeira, who will return to the lineup against Kansas City. "Running and exercising a lot kind of causes the (coughing) episodes so not playing for a couple of days was good. ... I'm done with drugs. I've been on more things the last two months than I've been on the last 10 years. I'm done with all the medicines."
Teixeira is hitting .228 through 37 games this season for the Yanks.
