Bo Jackson And George Brett Return To The Royals (For A Softball Game)

The Kansas City Royals are making sure to hit all the nostalgic notes in their franchise's history when they host the 2012 MLB All-Star Game and its related festivities. Case in point: Bo Jackson and George Brett back in the field, albeit for a softball game between former baseball greats and celebrities:

The six-inning contest will take place on Sunday, July 8 at Kansas City's Kauffman Stadium, the site of the All-Star Game that will take place two days later. It will be televised on Monday, July 9 after the Home Run Derby.

Jackson played five seasons for the Royals, the last coming in 1990. Brett, a 13-time All-Star and first-ballot Hall of Famer, is arguably the biggest name in modern franchise history. Bo and George will be in good company - Ernie Banks, Andre Dawson, Rollie Fingers, Rickey Henderson, Ozzie Smith, Dave Winfield, Joe Carter, Mike Piazza and Mike Sweeney will all be a part of the event.
