An early onslaught of offense and a solid performance from young Will Smith thus far have the Royals leading the Indians 8-2 after six innings in Cleveland.
The Royals opened the scoring with a two-run homer from Mike Moustakas in the first inning, but Cleveland answered with two in the bottom frame. In the second, the Royals scored five runs, capped by back-to-back-to-back RBI-singles.
Moustakas is 2-for-3 with four RBIs and one run scored. Johnny Giavotella is 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. After a rough first inning, Smith settled down. Making his second career Major League start, he has allowed the two earned runs on four hits over six innings. He also has allowed two walks while striking out five.
