Yuniesky Betancourt's two run home run in the 15th inning was the difference in Kansas City's 5-3 win over the St Louis Cardinals in 15 innings. Betancourt wasn't even in the original starting lineup and only came in as an injury replacement for the injured Chris Getz. Betancourt briefly gave the Royals the lead in the 14th with a RBI double.

Luis Mendoza got the start and was solid allowing two runs and six hits in six innings of work. Eduardo Sanchez takes the loss for the Cardinals after giving up three runs and three hits in two innings of work.
Mike Moustakas went 3 for 6 with a run scored for the Royals. Alex Gordon was 0 for 3 but walked five times in the game. Matt Holiday and Adron Chambers had two hits for the Cardinals.
