The Kansas City Royals and Major League Baseball announced on Tuesday that the 2012 Taco Bell All-Star Legends & Celebrity Softball Game will be held at Kauffman Stadium on July 8. The game will feature a slew of former Kansas City sports greats, but you wouldn't know that from the press release headline!
The press release touts that the softball game will feature the dangerously handsome Jon Hamm, American Idol contestant Hely Reinhart (not even "winner," but "contestant") and Glee star Chord Overstreet, which is apparently a name that an actual human being is willing to go by.
What is somewhat buried in the lead is that the game will also feature Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassel, Kansas Jayhawks men's basketball coach Bill Self and UFC champion Jon "Bones" Jones. Not to mention former Royals Bo Jackson, George Brett and Mike Sweeney. Oh, and some dudes named Ernie Banks, Andre Dawson, Rollie Fingers, Ozzie Smith, Dave Winfield ... ugh, this is so boring. Oh wow! HORATIO SANZ!
Anyone who is interested in finding out more information about the softball game and the rest of the All-Star Game festivities can check out the official All-Star Game website. Be warned though that it is not advised to look directly at Jon Hamm, for fear of going blind due to an overexposure of pure-distilled handsome. It is advised that you bring a piece of cardboard with a hole punched in it or a piece of smoked glass through which to indirectly observe Jon Hamm.
Fun fact: did you know that Jon Hamm almost didn't get the role of Don Draper on Mad Men because the creators thought he was too handsome for the role? The role of someone who is basically just handsome? True story.
Sorry, what were we talking about?
