George Brett To Manage U.S. All-Star Futures Team

The All-Star Futures Game is perhaps the most underrated event during the All-Star Break, as it's a chance to see the future young stars of baseball compete against each other on a national stage. This year, Royals fans will be in for an extra treat, as former Royals third baseman, and Hall of Famer, George Brett will be managing the U.S. team in the All-Star Futures Game.

Brett, who spent his entire career with the Royals, is one of the most iconic Royals ever to play, and certainly worthy of the nod to manage the U.S. team. Brett's counterpart for the World team will be Bernie Williams.

The rosters for both teams will be announced on Thursday, and it's a virtual lock that at least one Royals farmhand will be showcased in the event. Wil Myers, who appeared in the 2011 All-Star Futures Game, is a decent bet to appear in this year's version.

The game will be held on Sunday, July 8, at Kauffman Stadium.
