St. Louis Cardinals Vs. Kansas City Royals: Saturday Preview, TV Schedule And More

Friday didn't quite go as planned for the Kansas City Royals, as they opened up a three-game series against the St. Louis Cardinals. Vin Mazarro, who pitched very well against St. Louis last week, couldn't escape the second inning, as the Cardinals routed Kansas City, 11-4.

On Saturday, the Royals will send Luis Mendoza (2-3, 4.69 ERA, 1.60 WHIP) to the mound, as KC looks to rebound from a disastrous Friday night.

Mendoza last pitched on Sunday, when he pitched six innings in St. Louis, allowing just two runs on six hits, while walking one and striking out five. Both runs scored off of Mendoza came via the long ball, as Matt Holliday and Allen Craig went deep off of the righty.

Kansas City's offense will take on Adam Wainwright (5-7, 4.46 ERA, 1.31 WHIP), who, like Mendoza, last pitched on Sunday. Wainwright pitched seven innings against the Royals, giving up just one run on five hits and three walks. He struck out eight Royals in the contest.

First pitch is scheduled for 1:15 at Kauffman Stadium. Televised coverage can be found either on FOX Sports Kansas City or the MLB Network.
