Royals Vs. Cardinals Final Score: Kansas City Falls To St. Louis 8-2

For the second straight game the pitching for the Kansas City Royals did not perform well as they fell to the St. Louis Cardinals 8-2. Saturday's starter was Luis Mendoza and he lasted only 4.1 innings while giving up seven hits and four runs.

The fifth inning is when troubles began for Mendozza as he started giving up hit after hit and allowed three runs before being pulled for Kelvin Herrera who was able to get out of the inning. Heading into the bottom of the sixth inning the Royals were trailing 5-0, and they did make a comeback by scoring a pair of runs on an Alex Gordon RBI-triple and then when Yuniesky Betancourt knocked in Gordon to make it 5-2.

That is all the offense that the Royals were able to come up with while the Cardinals put up another two runs in the top of the seventh when Allen Craig hit a two-run home run to give the Cardinals a 7-2 lead. Craig was able to put up another run for the Cardinals in the ninth inning when he hit a RBI-single to centerfield.
