The Kansas City Royals look to avoid a three-game sweep by salvaging a win on Sunday in the series finale against the St. Louis Cardinals. The Royals will send left hander Jonathan Sanchez to the mound who is making his third start after spending more than a month on the disabled list.
Sanchez allowed four runs in six innings last time out in a loss to Houston. He is 1-3 with a 5.70 ERA this season. Despite his struggles this season he has been very good against the Cardinals in his career sporting a 3-0 record with a 2.78 ERA in five starts.
St. Louis will counter with 10 game winner Lance Lynn who is coming off allowing a season worst five earned runs last time out against the Tigers.
