Vin Mazzaro looks for his third win of the season, as the Kansas City Royals look to rebound after dropping the first of a three-game set against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Mazzaro has made just two starts for Kansas City so far in 2012, but they've both been good enough to earn Mazzaro wins. Mazarro is 2-0 for Kansas City, with a 2.25 ERA and 1.25 WHIP in just 12 innings of work. Mazzaro, though, has only struck out five batters and has walked four -- a ratio that will need to improve if Mazzaro wants to sustain success.
Kansas City's bats, which were quieted in a 4-2 loss on Friday, will face off against James McDonald, who has been one of the best pitchers in baseball this year. McDonald's record stands at just 5-2, but he is the owner of a 2.14 ERA, .95 WHIP and .194 BAA in 71.1 innings of work on the season. McDonald has walked just 20 batters as well, while striking out 71.
