Last year was a frustrating season for Wil Myers. The Kansas City Royals heralded outfield prospect couldn't quite get any momentum at the plate and experienced his most disappointing season in the minors. This year, Myers is doing anything and everything he can to show that he's ready for the Major Leagues.
Myers already had 27 home runs coming into the All-Star Break, so he wasn't lacking for any attention already. His performance in the MLB Futures Game in Kansas City over the weekend opened even more eyes with 3 RBI. Then last night at the AAA All-Star Game, Myers once again provided the spark at the plate with 2 hits, 1 run and 1 RBI in a 3-0 win for the Pacific Coast League over the International League. He was selected Star of Stars for his effort.
"It's cool to come out here and get the MVP award," Myers said. "It's something I'll always remember. Hopefully, the call-up will be even better. It could obviously happen at any time. Right now, I just want to go out and try to get better at-bats."
