The Toronto Blue Jays (40-39) host the Kansas City Royals (35-42) for what should be a meaningful series leading up to the MLB All-Star Break. While the teams have one more series apiece before taking some time away, both could use a solid series showing to use as momentum heading into the second half of the season. The Blue Jays are promising but locked in a difficult AL East battle, while the Royals are contending in a disappointing Central division.
The series kicks off tonight in a match-up between Everett Teaford for the visiting Royals and Ricky Romero on the mound for the Jays. While Romero has had control issues his last few starts, he's definitely the more inspiring pitcher between the two. The Royals meanwhile hope that Teaford can fill in the rotation with a decent enough start although he pitched nicely against the Rays last time out.
