Royals Vs. Twins: The Battle For Last Place In The AL Central Concludes On Sunday

Hey, at least the Kansas City Royals aren't in last place in the division, right? The Royals have a 1.5 game lead over the Minnesota Twins as Kansas City tries to stay out of the AL Central cellar. On Saturday, the Royals defeated the Twins 7-3 and got the offensive output they've sorely needed from their young stars.

Lorenzo Cain drove in three runs, Alex Gordon blasted three hits and scored two runs and Luis Mendoza scattered seven hits over 6.1 innings and three earned runs to earn his fourth win of the season. What Mendoza started on Saturday, its now Jeremy Guthrie's job to continue on Sunday in taking the mound.

Guthrie will face the Twins Dominican hurler Samuel Deduno on Sunday as both pitchers look to put some positivity to their season stat lines. One final note, Twins first baseman Justin Morneau was been placed on the paternity list prior to Saturday's game as his wife gave birth to the couple's second child.

First pitch is scheduled for 2:10 PM ET.
