Royals Vs. Angels Final Score: Smith Brilliant As Royals Beat Angels 4-1

Will Smith gave up only two hits and one earned run over seven innings as the Kansas City Royals beat the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 4-1 Tuesday night.

Kansas City took an early 2-0 lead after Lorenzo Cain belted his third home run of the year over the left field fence. The Angels grabbed their only run of the game in the bottom of the first, when Mark Trumbo pushed a single into left field that scored Torii Hunter to make it 2-1. That was the last real chance against Smith however, who went the next six innings without surrendering a hit.

The Royals wrapped up the scoring in the second, with Alex Gordon producing an RBI single and Alcides Escobar grounding into a fielders choice that scored Chris Getz.

Garrett Richards took the loss for the Angels, giving up five hits and four earned runs in five innings of work. Jonathon Broxton pitched a scoreless ninth inning for his 25th save of the year.
