Jonathan Broxton is the current Royals closer and perhaps their most dependable pitcher. He's also the most likely to be traded. After signing this offseason with Kansas City on a one-year deal, the team is now out of contention and likely to sell off at least one or two veteran parts for future assets if possible. Several contenders are apparently interested in bolstering their bullpen.
ESPN's Jason Churchill writes, "Among the contenders believed to be in the market for relief help that could be fits for Broxton include the Los Angeles Angels. Clubs such as the Yankees, Red Sox, Giants, Pirates, Cardinals, Nationals and Reds could also have some interest in the relief market."
Broxton is currently 1-2 with a 2.27 ERA and 23 saves on the season. After taking over for injured closer Joakim Soria, who underwent his second Tommy John surgery, Broxton has been better than advertised in the role.
