The latest destination for former Kansas City Royals great and former Cy Young Award winner Zack Greinke has been found and the Los Angeles Angels have won the sweepstakes. It was presumed that the Milwaukee Brewers would deal him and the AL West was the likely situation, but the Texas Rangers were often considered the frontrunners. Now he's heading to their rivals in the division, who are now likely considered the favorites to win the West and possibly for the World Series.
Mark Polishuk writes, "Milwaukee will receive top infield prospect Jean Segura and two Double-A pitchers in exchange for their ace. The two teams are just putting the 'finishing touches' on the completed trade." The Brewers were looking for one top flight prospect among the haul.
The Angels were already all-in this offseason with their acquisitions of C.J. Wilson and Albert Pujols, so the trade is not a surprise given the current payroll.
