The Kansas City Royals lost Mike Moustakas from the field and the batting order early today in their game against the Seattle Mariners. It's now clear that he's likely to miss the rest of the weekend as well against a team that has had the Royals' number the last couple of weeks. Moustakas injured his knee earlier in the game and until the team knows more, they're not going to risk anything.
#Royals 3B Mike Moustakas doesn't think his knee is seriously injured, but club planning an MRI. So he's unlikely to play Sunday.— Bob Dutton (@Royals_Report) July 28, 2012
The Royals have found Moustakas as a cornerstone player this season and he's become a major asset on the field and at the plate, so it's clear they're going to be very careful with such a valuable player in the future. He has 16 home runs so far this season to go with a .262 average.
