MLB All-Star Game 2012: Teams Set For Annual Home Run Derby

One of the most famous components of the annual All-Star break is the Home Run Derby. The current incarnation of the Home Run Derby will pit two teams of four representatives from each league against one another until one slugger is left standing. Kansas City fans will be treated to more than a few moonshots likely landing in the fountains at Kaufman Stadium.

The captain for the American League derby contestants will be defending champion Robinson Cano. He has selected Prince Fielder, Mark Trumbo and Jose Bautista to join him, which is certainly a formidable team.

For the National League, captain Matt Kemp selected Carlos Beltran, Carlos Gonzalez and possibly the individual who will launch the longest of the longballs in the competition, Giancarlo Stanton of the Miami Marlins.
