Kansas City Royals Vs. Detroit Tigers: Saturday Preview, TV Schedule And More

Bruce Chen (7-7, 4.83 ERA, 1.25 WHIP) gets the start on Saturday, as the Kansas City Royals look to rebound from Friday night's loss, as the Royals continue a three-game series in Detroit against the Tigers.

Detroit, who was seen by many as the clear favorite in the AL Central, and one of the few teams that could challenge the Texas Rangers for American League supremacy, has stumbled out of the gate this year. Detroit is an even 42-42 headed into Saturday's contest, and they're in third place behind both Chicago and Cleveland.

Chen will look to put the Tigers back under .500 on Saturday -- and look to rebound from a poor start. Last Sunday, Chen gave up six runs on six hits (including three home runs) and a walk, in just five and 2/3 innings pitched. The outing inflated Chen's ERA to an ugly 4.83.

KC's bats will face off against Doug Fister (1-6, 4.61 ERA, 1.41 WHIP). Fister's lone win came on Bloomsday, June 16, nearly a month ago. In his two most recent outings combined, Fister has given up 15 runs (14 earned) in just 8 and 1/3 innings.

First pitch is scheduled for 3:05 p.m. CT. Televised coverage can be found on FOX Sports Kansas City. Online coverage can be found on MLB.tv.
