Royals Vs. Tigers Final Score: Kansas City Falls Again To Detroit, 8-7

The Kansas City Royals made a late rally against the Detroit Tigers, but their three runs in the top of the ninth inning were not enough. With the loss the Royals fell to the Tigers the second straight day 8-7.

Heading into the ninth inning the Royals trailed 8-4 and started their comeback against the Tigers closer Jose Valverde. Valverde started off the ninth by walking Alex Gordon on four pitches, gave up a double to Alcides Escobar and then walked Eric Hosmer to load the bases. All-Star Billy Butler hit a two-run single to cut the lead to 8-6.

Yuniesky Betancourt nearly hit a three-run homer to put the Royals up by two, but the ball went to deep center field and the Tigers Austin Jackson made the catch at the wall. The Royals made it a one-run game on a sacrifice by Mike Moustakast, but then Jeff Francoeur struck out with Jason Bourgeois on second base to end the game.
