Alex Gordon Named Defensive All-Star In Left Field By ESPN

Alex Gordon was inked to a long-term extension earlier this spring by Dayton Moore and the Kansas City Royals front office for his impact in the middle of the line-up after a career year in 2011. However his defense might be one aspect in which few people truly know what he brings on the field. As Ben Jedlovec surveys the Majors for his all-Defensive All-Star team at the mid-season mark, he marks Alex Gordon as the best defensive left fielder in baseball.

Jedlovec writes, "Gordon lost the 2011 Fielding Bible Award to Brett Gardner but beat him out for the Gold Glove. Since making the move from third base, the Royals' left fielder has shown good range and a great arm. His six assists (five of which were unassisted "kills") again lead the American League."

Gordon is also heating up at the plate as the season rolls on. So far in 2012, Gordon is hitting .273 with 5 home runs and 27 RBI.
