The good news for the Royals is that despite hosting the AL West leaders and two-time league champion Rangers, Kansas City is getting a weakened Rangers club coming off of a sub-.500 July at the some point the Royals are finishing a home sweep of Cleveland.

The bad news is that starter Jeremy Guthrie has been crushed by several of Texas' big bats before, namely Michael Young (lifetime .400 against Guthrie) and Elvis Andrus, who is 6-for-13 with two doubles lifetime against the pitcher. Guthrie is making his second home start as a Royal, having given up six runs and 11 hits in his first career start in K.C. after being traded.
