Royals Vs. Tigers Final Score: Kansas City Pulls A Close Win, Defeat Detroit 2-1

The Kansas City Royals edged out the Detroit Tigers to win 2-1 on Friday night. Outfielder Alex Gordon hit a solo home run in the sixth inning off of Tigers starter Rick Porcello to give the Royals a 2-0 lead. The Tigers did cut the lead in half in the top of the eighth inning when shortstop Jhonny Peralta hit a RBI single off of starter Jeremy Guthrie, his only earned run of the game.

The Royals replaced Guthrie with Tim Collins and then Aaron Crow who stopped the Tigers threat and ended the inning with by not allowing any more runs. Kelvin Herrera then came in the ninth inning for the Royals and he was able to keep the Tigers off the board to earn his first save of the year.
