Royals Vs. Angels: Greinke Baffles Royals Hitters But Royals Win Anyway

The Royals offense did basically nothing all night, but in the bottom of the ninth they made it an evening to remember.

Zack Greinke was on the hill for the Angels as he pitched his second game in Kaufmann Stadium against his old team, and he'd be impressive again. Previously, in his return to Kaufmann Stadium, he'd throw seven innings of one-run ball but take the no-decision in the Royals 2-1 victory. Saturday would see him do even better, throwing 8.1 innings and allowing only five hits.

Greinke would leave the game with one out and a runner on first in the bottom of the ninth inning. Ernesto Frieri would enter the game and promptly give up a game tying home run to Billy Butler, and he'd immediately serve up a second as Salvador Perez ended the game for the Royals win.

Jeremie Guthrie was solid for the Royals, going eight inning of his own and allowing only a pair of runs. He was in line to be a tough luck loser until the Royals ninth inning rally. The full box score can be found here.
