The Kansas City Royals will continue to have a direct say in the AL Central division race as their series in Detroit against the Tigers continues on Wednesday night.

Tigers starting pitcher Anibal Sanchez dominated the Kansas City lineup on Tuesday, striking out ten while allowing only three hits in the 2-0 shutout, extending the Royals' losing streak to three games.

Jeremy Guthrie (7-12, 4.80 ERA) takes the mound for the Royals after getting a no-decision in his last start on Sept. 20, in which he gave up only one run in six innings against the Chicago White Sox.

For Detroit, Rick Porcello (9-12, 4.57 ERA) starts after a rough outing in his last appearance, as he lasted 4⅔ innings on Sept. 16, surrendering two earned runs to the Cleveland Indians in a no-decision.

The White Sox and Tigers are currently tied for the AL Central division lead as the Royals, including Wednesday's contest, will play five more games against the Tigers. Their season series against Chicago is over.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. CT at Comerica Park, and the game can be seen on Fox Sports Kansas City.
