MLB.com Revises Prospect Rankings, Wil Myers Headlines Royals

A new set of baseball prospect rankings are out at MLB.com, and to no surprise Wil Myers tops the charts for the Kansas City Royals.

Some new baseball prospect rankings were released by MLB.com, and to no surprise at all, Wil Myers was named the top prospect in the Kansas City Royals organization. Also named the top overall outfield prospect in baseball, Myers is now the fourth ranked prospect in baseball according to the same website.

Once heralded pitching prospect Mike Montgomery has slid to the sixth spot and is now just the fourth ranked pitcher in the Kansas City organization. It was a trying year for the 23-year-old as he went 5-12 with a 6.07 ERA between Omaha and Northwest Arkansas.

In addition to Myers, the Royals added three other players on the top 100 overall prospect list. Joining are Bubba Starling (22nd), Jake Odorizzi (32nd) and this year's first round pick Kyle Zimmer (69th).

Ironically, the Royals mentioned they like Zimmer because he has a chance to be on the fast track to Kansas City, however MLB.com doesn't believe he will be in Kansas City until 2015. That isn't anything against his ability though as he was 3-3 this year with a 2.04 ERA in nine starts.

Interesting enough, the Royals have quite a deep talent pool, yet the two players Kansas City received in the Jonathan Broxton deal both cracked the top 10. JC Sulbaran is eighth, while reliever Donnie Joseph comes in at the 10 spot.
