Kansas vs. Texas Tech: Red Raiders dominate series history

Jayhawks have one win over the Red Raiders as the teams meet for the 14th time on Saturday.

History is not on the side of the Kansas Jayhawks (1-8, 0-6) football team as they go on the road for their Big 12 conference matchup with the No. 22 Texas Tech Red Raiders (6-3, 3-3) on Saturday morning. Texas Tech holds a 12-1 advantage in the 13 prior meetings between the two schools.

The current Kansas team has enough problems without looking back in time as they try to halt an eight-game losing streak in Lubbock, Tex. Texas Tech has won five consecutive games in the series, including winning a 45-34 shootout last season when the two teams met in Lawrence, Kan.

The sole win in the series for Kansas was on the road in Lubbock when the Jayhawks earned a 34-31 overtime win in 2001. Since then, the Red Raiders have continued to own the series and it appears that trend will continue this year. The Jayhawks rank last in the Big 12 in points scored with nearly 17 points per game which won't be nearly enough to match Texas Tech's offense which is averaging over 38 points per game.

Texas Tech will be the fifth ranked opponent Kansas will play in their past six games. Baylor blew out Kansas, 41-14 in the only game against an unranked opponent last week.
