The Kansas Jayhawks went down early, but responded quickly to tie No. 22 Texas Tech Red Raiders, 7-7, after one quarter in Lubbock, Texas. Kansas is looking to pick up its first conference victory of the season.
Texas Tech quarterback Seth Doege connected with Leon Mackey for a 9-yard touchdown to finish off the Red Raiders' first drive of the game.
Kansas responded on the next drive, going 63 yards on eight plays to tie things up. James Sims finished off the drive with a 6-yard touchdown run.
After scoring on each of their opening drives, the teams traded punts for the rest of the quarter. Texas Tech has the ball and is driving inside Kansas territory to begin the second quarter.
The Jayhawks are 1-8 on the season, on an eight-game losing streak. Texas Tech's 6-3 overall record has them in the top 25, but fifth in the Big 12 with a 3-3 record.
