Josh Selby Named Big 12 Rookie Of The Week

Kansas Jayhawks freshman Josh Selby has played one game of college basketball and already has an award to show for it. The Big 12 Conference announced on Monday that Selby was named the rookie of the week for his 21-point performance in KU's victory over USC on Saturday.

Selby scored 21 points and hit five three pointers in an awfully impressive performance. Frankly, I was surprised he lived up to some of the hype and expectations that were laid before him. His first shot in his college basketball career was a three pointer and at one point in the first half he scored 10 straight points for the Jayhawks.

He saved his biggest shot for last though when he hit a three pointer to give KU the lead -- a lead they wouldn't give up -- over USC with 26 seconds remaining in the game.

It was one of the most anticipated Allen Fieldhouse games in recent memory and Selby lived up to it. He's off to a terrific start in his career.
