Syracuse Orange Top Michigan State Spartans In Top 10 Matchup At Jimmy V Classic

The Kansas Jayhawks and Memphis Tigers weren't the only ones playing in the Jimmy V Classic at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night. We also saw a matchup of two top-10 teams in the No. 7 Michigan State Spartans and No. 8 Syracuse Orange.

The Syracuse Orange outscored the Michigan State Spartans by nine points in the first half and by five in the second half to notch a 14-point victory over the Spartans, 72-58.

Syracuse's Rick Jackson scored 17 points and 16 boards in a big time effort at Madison Square Garden. Scoop Jardine game's leading scorer with 19 points and Kris Joseph added 14 points.

Michigan State's Durrell Summers led the team with 18 points in the loss.

Syracuse shot slightly better than the Spartans but they really made their mark at the free throw line hitting 22 of 29 shots. Michigan State hit 9 of 16 free throws.

Michigan State moves to 6-3 on the season while Syracuse remains perfect at 9-0.
