Former Kansas Jayhawks guard Sherron Collins has been assigned by the Charlotte Bobcats to the D-League's Maine Red Claws, according to FanHouse.com. Collins wasn't drafted last summer but picked up with the Bobcats.
Collins, a 5-11 point guard, has appeared in 12 games for the Bobcats this season but for a total of just 29 minutes. Unfortunately for the rookie, he hasn't been able to make the most of his time as he's hit just one of his eight shot attempts, that coming in an 18 point loss to the Philadelphia 76ers over the weekend.
I'm not sure what the issue is or if he has much of a future in the NBA. In college, it was occasionally related to conditioning. If he was in shape, he was a damn good player. If he wasn't, then, yeah, he struggled.
Collins' memory will live on in Lawrence, though.
