Kansas' Bill Self Deserves A Nod For Coach Of The Year

ESPN's Dick Vitale entered the 2010-2011 college basketball season with the Kansas State Wildcats -- not the Knsas Jayhawks --  winning the Big 12. Three months into the season and we know that was a mistake. K-State is flailing while KU has never looked stronger.

Well, my friends, I have learned my lesson -- the Big 12 championship goes through Lawrence. I know some folks in Austin may have something to say about that, especially since the Longhorns snapped Kansas' 69-game home win streak, but the Jayhawks are a legitimate national championship contender.

And Bill Self deserves some praise for that.

Kansas entered this season missing three significant pieces from last year -- Sherron Collins, Cole Aldrich and Xavier Henry. That's two first round picks in there so that was a lot of talent to replace. KU basketball, specifically Bill Self, has done an outstanding job replacing them as they've been in the top six all season long.

Bill Self has one of, if not the best team in the college basketball right now and this is a rebuilding year of sorts with the players they lost. It looks like KU has gotten stronger since last year.
