ESPN's panel of college basketball experts are mixed on who they believe will win the Big 12 basketball title. The Kansas Jayhawks have long been the favorite year after year, but reviews are mixed on this season after the team graduated so many star players -- especially the twins, Marcus Morris and Markieff Morris. The Baylor Bears are also impressive and the Missouri Tigers have impressed at least one voter enough to believe. Thus, you have a split decision on the conference predictions on ESPN.
Jay Bilas and Fran Fraschilla both believe that KU will overcome their lack of depth and maintain their dominance in the conference, but Eamonn Brennan and Stephen Bardo believe that Baylor will win and upset the apple cart. Even more surprising is John Gasaway who believes that Frank Haith will take the conference in his first year -- a tall order for a new coach without his best inside man in Laurence Bowers for the season. The Tigers do have impressive scorers returning this season, however.
The only thing that's clear is that the Big 12 is more wide open this year than it's been in years, and several teams hope to take advantage of KU's perceived vulnerability.
