The Kansas Jayhawks turned in a solid effort but couldn't overcome a strong second half by the Kentucky Wildcats eventually falling 75-65.
Doron Lamb scored 17 points for Kentucky who had five different players in double figures. Terrence Jones finished with 15 points and seven rebounds while freshman Anthony Davis tossed in 14 points, six rebounds and six blocks. Marquis Teague and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist each finished with 12 points. After a slow first half, Kentucky rebounded to shoot 52 percent in the game including 7 of 15 from three point range.
Tyshawn Taylor led all scorers with 22 points but was just 3-13 from the field. Taylor was able to get to the free throw line regularly going 15-17. Thomas Robinson finished with 11 points and 12 rebounds before fouling out. The Jayhawks saw their shooting percentage shrink to just 34 percent and were outrebounded 34-29 in the game.
