Andrew Luck versus Brandon Weeden. That's a match-up that most people would love to see, and that's why the Fiesta Bowl sponsors have to be licking their chops at the thought of the proposed Oklahoma State vs. Stanford match-up in the latest Bowl Projections over at SB Nation.
The high-powered offense of Oklahoma State was challenged on Friday night by the upstart Iowa State Cyclones and the Cyclones came away with the upset after two overtimes 37-31. The loss knocked Oklahoma State out of the national title picture, for now, which means they're going to compete against many of the other teams that have lost only one game.
Both teams have some obstacles ahead. Stanford beat Cal last night in a close win 31-28 and now must face Notre Dame and then the Pac-12 championship after that. That's two straight games that will be tough to count on winning, but Stanford is obviously talented enough to do just that. As for OSU, the biggest match is the vaunted rivalry game against Oklahoma next week.
