The No. 14 Kansas Jayhawks will attempt to rebound from a tough loss to Kentucky last week in the second round of the EA Sports Maui Invitational Monday night against the Georgetown Hoyas.
Kansas struggled to create offense against the Wildcats, one of the most athletic teams in the nation. Tyshawn Taylor, the Jayhawks senior point guard, was only 3-13 from the floor but he drew 17 foul shots and kept Kansas in the game.
Thomas Robinson, the Jayhawks standout power forward and preseason All-American, held his own against a dominant Kentucky front-line, but eventually fouled out in 27 minutes.
But against an unranked 2-0 Georgetown team, Kansas is a -5 point favorite.
Their biggest defensive challenge will come from 6'8 205 combo forward Hollis Thompson, who is averaging 16 points on 66% shooting with 4 rebounds and 2.5 assists for the Hoyas this season.
Travis Releford, the Jayhawks 6'5 205 starting small forward, will likely get the assignment, and he'll be expected to score more than the 4 points he did against Kentucky.
The odds makers are expecting this early season game between two high-major schools to be high scoring, as the over/under is 140 points.
The game will be televised nationally Monday night at 10:50 PM on ESPN2, while the Kansas website will stream it live online.
