It has been another tough season for Turner Gill and Kansas Football. The Jayhawks have lost six straight games and things don't figure to get any easier over the last few weeks of the season. Up next is Iowa State who upset Texas Tech 41-7 in Lubbock. That win snapped the Cyclone's own four game losing streak.
The Cyclone's shouldn't be mistaken for an offensive juggernaut, but the Kansas defense has had a hard time stopping anyone this season ranking 120th nationally in total defense. Consider that the Jayhawks are allowing 49.5 points per game and that explains why their season went south really quickly.
Offensively the Jayhawks can run the ball, the problems lies that they are seldom in position to do so. When a team is constantly playing catch up, running the ball is less of an option. James Sims hasn't been spectacular but he is capable and is averaging a respectable 4.3 yards per carry and has seven touchdowns on the season.
