Just as soon as word arrived that Sullinger was going to warm up and “see how he feels,” now we’re receiving word that he’s not even going to dress for today’s game against the Kansas Jayhawks. That’s bad news for an Ohio State team that could certainly use their star players who averaged 19 points and 10 rebounds per game. It also nixes the featured match-up that was much anticipated between Sullinger and KU’s Thomas Robinson, who is another probable lottery talent in next year’s NBA Draft. But Gary Parrish of CBS is reporting that Sullinger is out.
For now, Kansas will still have to contend with a tough Ohio State squad. Bill Self is well aware that the Buckeyes aren’t just a one-man team, although they certainly have an easier time of it without Sullinger. The forward has been questionable all week with back spasms and it seems that nothing is better yet. The only way to get around that is with some rest.
