Ben McLemore's Arrest Causes Issues For Kansas Basketball, Bill Self

Bill Self is depending on Ben McLemore to add an instant impact starting next season for Kansas basketball. He also needs him to start making some changes now, however, to make sure he'll be around long enough,.

The talented small forward out of St. Louis was arrested yesterday for failing to show up for a court appearance after being cited for possession of alcohol. These things can be harmless at first, but certainly it's not the image or conduct Self wants his players tangled up with.

ESPN's Andy Katz writes, "Kansas ineligible freshman Ben McLemore was arrested Tuesday for failing to show for a court appearance for underage possession of alcohol. It will be interesting to see how McLemore handles this latest setback. He was billed as the second-best pro prospect on the roster next to Thomas Robinson. I don’t see KU giving up on McLemore since they have worked too hard on having him make an impact on this program. But he’s not making things easier on the school. Still, KU will have to continue to show patience as McLemore deals with this setback and gets ready to start practicing in his second semester before potentially coming in 2012-13."
