After a week off for the Christmas holiday, the Kansas men's basketball will try to get ready for Big 12 conference play with a tune-up against the Howard Bison in Lawrence at 7:00 PM Thursday night.
The Bison, a 4-9 team from the Mid Eastern Athletic Conference, a low-major conference made up of HBCU's, aren't expected to provide a major test for the Jayhawks.
Howard won only 6 games last season under second-year coach Kevin Nickelberry, and lost by 57 points to Indiana in a game on Dec. 19.
They're led in scoring by Tulsa transfer Glenn Andrews, a 6'2 195 guard who just became eligible in the last few weeks and is averaging 14.2 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1 assist per game.
For Kansas, it's the first home game since their shocking upset loss to Davidson on Dec. 19.
Holding serve at Allen Fieldhouse will be imperative this season for a Jayhawks team looking for their eight straight Big 12 title. With the conference going to a true round-robin schedule, Kansas will have four games this year against Baylor and Missouri, both undefeated teams ranked in the top 10.
The game will be televised regionally on Jayhawks TV.
