Thomas Robinson but 22 turnovers by the Jayhawks made things a lot tougher than it should have been. Long Beach State trimmed a 19 point Kansas lead to four points with just 43 seconds remaining. Free throws by Tyshawn Taylor and Jeff Withey closed the game out for Kansas who improve to 6-2 on the season.
Robinson finished with 26 points and 11 rebounds to lead five Kansas scorers in double figures. Conner Teahan added 14 points including four of five shooting from three point range. Jeff Withey narrowly missed out on a triple double finishing with 13 points, 13 rebounds and nine blocked shots. Tyshawn Taylor added 12 points while Travis Releford finished with 10.
Kansas shot 54 percent for the game but were undone by 22 turnovers and a pesky 49ers team that was able to convert 28-37 free throw attempts in the game.
Long Beach State was led by T.J. Robinson's 19 points and seven rebounds. Casper Ware finished with 16 points and four steals while James Ennis had 16 points with five steals. Larry Anderson scored 14 points and handed out seven assists in the game.
