Potential New No. 1 In NCAA Basketball Rankings And Big 12 Player Of The Week

It's shaping up to be a good week for the Kansas Jayhawks. Ranked No. 2 in the country, they're hoping No.1 Ohio State's loss on Saturday will propel them to the top spot in the latest AP poll, and they've also got the Big 12 player of the week.

The Big 12 announced on Monday that forward Marcus Morris is the conference player of the week.

KU basketball beat the Missouri Tigers and Iowa State Cyclones this week. Morris averaged 19 points and 9.5 rebounds in both those games.

Against Missouri, Morris put up 22 points and eight boards -- hitting on 7-of-9 shots -- in a 103-86 victory. Against Iowa State, Morris added 16 points and 11 boards.

The best thing about Morris is how efficient he is. He puts up solid numbers and he does it better than anyone with is 60 percent shooting percentage leading the league. When you add in Markieff Morris' contributions, these two are the best pair of big men in college basketball.

To make this week even better, the Jayhawks now await the latest AP poll where they're hoping to be ranked No. 1 in the country.
