Of course the Texas Longhorns lost. I say that because it was shortly before their game against the Nebraska Cornhuskers that I wrote:
Texas may not lose any Big 12 games.... if I had to make a guess, Texas will go undefeated in the Big 12. Pretty wild to think about.
You see how I just assumed they would get past Nebraska? They didn't. Nebraska beat Texas, 70-67, in Lincoln on Saturday.
"Man, what a great game," Nebraska coach Doc Sadler said. "How can you not be excited? It's a great day for us."
Indeed, the rest of the Big 12 is excited. Texas was undefeated in the conference up to this point and arguably the best team in the country since the beginning of January, a span which included a victory over the Kansas Jayhawks in Allen Fieldhouse.
UT fans at Burnt Orange Nation aren't as confident about the Big 12 championship following this loss:
With the Kansas loss on Big Monday at Kansas State, the Longhorns remain a full game ahead of the Jayhawks in the Big 12 race. That said, a two game lead with just four left would have been close to insurmountable. Now, the ‘Horns have just a single game lead with two weeks remaining.
Texas was ranked No. 3 in the AP poll so they're not going to make an argument to become the new No. 1 team after Kansas lost on Monday. I was at the Kansas-Colorado game on Saturday at Allen Fieldhouse and some of the loudest cheers of the night came when the scoreboard operators flashed the Texas-Nebraska score. KU fans are indeed happy with this news.
