On Feb. 11 Kansas Jayhawks head coach Bill Self announced Thomas Robinson would be out approximately two weeks after undergoing surgery to repair a meniscus tear on his knee. At the time of the injury, we were pinpointing the Oklahoma Sooners game on Saturday, Feb. 26 as his most likely return.
We were wrong. On Monday morning Self said Robinson may play on Monday night against Oklahoma State and that's what he did suiting up in a 92-65 victory over the Cowboys.
At the beginning of the game, ESPN's Holly Rowe reported Robinson would play about 10 minutes per the advice of team doctors, and that's exactly how long he played. He scored six points on 2-of-2 shooting, including 2-of-4 from the free throw line, as well as six rebounds.
Here are a couple of post-game quotes from Robinson:
On how it feels to get back on the court: "It felt great. I've only been out about a week and a half, but sitting out that long, for me, was annoying. I couldn't wait to get out on the court, so it was a great feeling."
On if he was rusty at all today: "Was I rusty? Did I look rusty?"
Six points and six boards in 10 minutes of action? If he was rusty, it sure didn't look like it.
