KU Basketball's Tyrel Reed Named To Academic All-American First Team

Kansas Jayhawks guard Tyrel Reed is an Academic All-American. The College Sports Information Directors of America announced on Tuesday that Reed was a first team Academic All-American. He joins Butler's Matt Howard, Notre Dame's Tim Abromaitis, Northern Colorado's Devon Beitzel and North Carolina's Tyler Zeller.
Reed earned his undergraduate degree in three and a half years as a pre-physical therapy and exercise science major with a 3.65 GPA.

"This is an amazing award and I'm just so excited about receiving it," Reed said. "I wasn't the one that was really in charge of it. I have to give all the credit to my academic advisors and my teammates for being on a good team and for them always supporting me."

This award won't get much attention but it's pretty cool that he was able to earn this. Kansas is one of the best teams in the country, which means there's a lot of attention focused on them, so I think it's even more impressive that he was able to earn this.
