National Signing Day: Missouri Class Questionable For Such A Strong Program

New, 1 comment

The grades are pouring in from various sources concerning National Signing Day and how various college programs fared. Across the board, Texas is the favorite Big 12 program landing some of the top talent in the country. However, one team that is notably missing from the upper ranks of the Big 12 is Missouri, a Top 15 program for much of the year.

Scouts like prospects like defensive end Shane Ray and quarterback Corbin Berkstresser, but overall there’s no elite prospects coming in like you’d expect from such a celebrated squad. Missouri has become a high profile program under Gary Pinkel with 40 wins in the last four years. Yet ESPN ranks the class ninth of ten in the BIg 12, and Rivals has them only slightly higher at No. 7.

Many praise Pinkel’s system, so perhaps these players are the best fit regardless of national ranking. Even so, you have to wonder how Mizzou’s program doesn’t attract more top flight talent.
