We're down to the semifinals in the Big 12 tournament feature the Colorado Buffs facing top dog Kansas Jayhawks and a battle of Texas as the Longhorns of Texas will play the Aggies of Texas A&M. I'm hoping for another day of close games as we we've seen for the most part this entire tournament.
Here are a few notes on the second to last day of the bracket:
(5) Colorado vs. (1) Kansas, 6:00 p.m., KMCI
I can't pick anyone other than Kansas in this game. The Jayhawks looked OK, but not great, against Oklahoma State in the opening round. They can't come out so sluggish offensively and need to use their weapons -- looking at you Marcus and Markieff Morris -- to dominate the game early. On the other hand, they have to do something about Colorado's guards -- Alec Burks and Cory Higgins. You can choose to focus your attention on one and slow him down while the other goes wild. You have to figure out a way to contain both of those guys. This is going to be a home game of sorts for KU in Kansas City so expect plenty of Jayhawks fans. I'm predicting a KU victory in this one.

(3) Texas A&M vs. (2) Texas, 8:30 p.m., KMCI
This has the potential to be a better game than Colorado-Kansas because the teams are a little more evenly matched. The question of the game really comes down to Texas. Which Texas team will show up? I think they've shown this year that when they're playing well they're the second best team in this conference, if not the best team. In other words, their best is better than Texas A&M's best. Jordan Hamilton has the potential to go nutty again, as he has at times this year. But ultimately my prediction stays with the Longhorns and it's for one big reason -- 81-60, 69-49. Those are the scores to both Texas-Texas A&M games this year -- both Longhorn wins.
