All-Big 12 Second Team: Kansas' Markieff Morris, Baylor's Perry Jones III, Texas' Tristan Thompson

The All-Big 12 basketball second team is in and we've got a few guys who could make first team arguments: Baylor Bears F/C Perry Jones III, Iowa State Cyclones G Diante Garrett, Kansas Jayhawks F Markieff Morris, Texas Longhorns F Tristan Thompson and Texas A&M Aggies F Khris Middleton.

We've got two freshman on this list including Jones III and Thompson. Jones III averaged nearly 14 points per game and over seven boards per game while Thompson averaged 13.5 points per game and 7.7 rebounds per game. Markieff Morris comes one step behind his brother, Marcus, who was the Big 12 player of the year. Markieff, though, had an impressive second half and at times looked better than his brother. I wouldn't have disagreed too much if he were on the first team.

The best team on this list would be Kansas with Markieff Morris. I'd give him the nod for the one with the best claim for a first team spot (not to take away from those already on the first team). In fact, Kansas is dominating the Big 12 awards season. Bill Self is coach of the year, Marcus Morris is player of the year and has a spot on the all-conference first team. And now Markieff is on the second team.

There's a lot of talent on this team and just one senior. Depending on how things shake out. you could see a couple of these guys returning next year, maybe even on the first team.

If you missed it, here's the first teamBaylor Bears G LaceDarius Dunn, Colorado Buffaloes G Alec Burks, Kansas Jayhawks F Marcus Morris, Kansas State Wildcats G Jacob Pullen, Texas Longhorns G/F Jordan Hamilton and Missouri Tigers G Marcus Denmon.
