Pat Knight Fired By Texas Tech; Will Coach In Big 12 Tournament

Texas Tech will be playing the Missouri Tigers the first round of the Big 12 tournament and they'll have to play knowing their head coach is on the way out. According to Chris Level of Red Raider Sports, head coach Pat Knight has been fired by Texas Tech.

He will coach in the Big 12 tournament which starts Wednesday.

How will this affect Wednesday's game? It can't be good for Texas Tech, who was a poor Big 12 team to begin with. Tech went 13-18 on the season and 5-11 in the Big 12. They already lost to the Tigers last month.

Mizzou, who has struggled as of late, may have caught a break. On the one hand, I can't imagine a team like Tech playing better after something like this. On the other hand, you wonder if they'll be extra motivated to send their head coach out on a winning note.

Texas Tech finished the season tied for 10th in the Big 12 conference and got the 11th seed in the tournament. Wednesday's game against Mizzou starts at 8:30 p.m.
